Purpose: Peer to Peer Suicide Prevention Training Program
To provide clinical staff to train middle school students on the signs of suicide and what part they might play in the preventing it. Performance goals include increasing knowledge and adaptive attitudes about depression among students; Encouraging individuals help-seeking and help-seeking on behalf of friends; addressing key risk factors associated with self-injury and suicide; Linking suicide to mental illness and underscoring the value of treatment; training students to recognize the signs of depression and suicidality and empowering them to intervene when confronted with the symptoms. The effectiveness of the program offering was evaluated via testing modules and recommendation were presented to the school District.
